Nehemiah Action Assembly

Every year F.A.I.T.H. holds their Action Assembly. This is a public event to which all F.A.I.T.H. congregations, the public, and the media are invited. The Action Assembly is the most important night of the year for our Justice ministries. It is when F.A.I.T.H. congregations recreate Nehemiah's "Great Assembly" in scripture by gathering
the community together to address public leaders and ask them to act on issues of injustice in Volusia County.

The 2026 Action Assembly will be held on March 24, 2026.
6:30pm at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church

This year's assembly will focus on Affordable Housing, Criminal Justice, and Flooding concerns.

Identifying the Decision Makers

After months of researching each issue, F.A.I.T.H. identifies local decision makers who have the authority to make the systemic changes necessary to address the root cause of the problem. F.A.I.T.H. works to meet with these officials months before the Assembly so they can present the findings of their research and invite them to the Action Assembly.

Turning Out The Community

F.A.I.T.H. congregations work year round to promote the Action Assembly. Their goal is to bring as many people to the assembly as they have come to worship services every week. F.A.I.T.H. recognizes that systemic changes only happen with public support and pressure.

Yes or No

At the Action Assembly, public officials are asked to commit to take certain actions in order to address issues of injustice. The actions F.A.I.T.H. asks the officials to make have been extensively researched for months by volunteers from F.A.I.T.H.'s various congregations. Public officials are emailed the questions they will be asked during the Assembly weeks ahead of time. In response to the questions, each official can either respond yes or no. Later in the evening they are each individually given a few minutes to explain their answer.
